Go ‘around the world in a day’ for charity
On June 29th Hilton hotels throughout the UK and Ireland will be inviting members of their communities to travel “around the world in a day” as part of their biggest ever national charity event.
Around the World in a Day participants will collectively aim to travel the circumference of the earth - 24,901.55 miles - by taking part in one of two events: the competitive Team Challenge or the more relaxed Miles4fun, designed for families.
Hilton team members, charity partners and the public will work together in hotels all over the country to cover as much distance as possible. Last year’s inaugural event raised over £50,000 and this year organisers are hoping to double that figure.
According to Simon Vincent, Chairman of the Foundation’s Trustees and Area President of Hilton UK and Ireland, this is a fantastic opportunity for everyone in the community to get involved. He urges the nation to dust off their trainers and run, cycle or walk all in the name of charity.
”It doesn’t matter what age you are or your fitness level, every bit of effort helps! To get involved all you have to do is register in advance and join us at your local hotel on June 29th for a fantastic day of fun and exercise.”
Miles4fun is two-hour event where anyone of any age can try and complete a chosen one mile route as many times as they wish. Team Challenge involves teams of four trying to complete as many miles as possible on cardiovascular equipment within the hotel foyers over a seven hour period. Hotels will also be choosing which countries they want to complete their miles in, so will have lots of themed fun on offer for participants.
The money raised will be shared between a local charity of the hotel’s choice and the Hilton in the Community Foundation. Join Around the World in a Day today by calling 020 7605 7641 or log onto www.hilton-foundation.org.uk
About the Hilton in the Community Foundation

Hilton in the Community Foundation was founded in 2001 as Hilton Hotels’ charity dedicated to supporting young people worldwide in the communities that Hilton Hotels serve. Focused on Education and Health, grants supporting disadvantaged young people are made in the UK and Ireland, while in the event of international disaster; grants are made to relief organisations at the Trustees’ discretion.
The Foundation’s core costs are funded by Hilton Hotels, so every net pound raised goes directly to good causes. Donations are funded almost entirely through the generous efforts and contributions of Hilton team members, family and friends and with the support of Hilton guests and company suppliers.
